First off, I'm very sorry for your loss. I can't imagine what it must be like to loose the personal possessions that are truly irreplaceable.
Regarding your options, you should consult with a lawyer to review your insurance contract. The contract likely requires you to cooperate with your insurer to pursue all responsible parties. You likely have personal property coverage through your insurer whereby they pay you the replacement cost for personal items or the actual cash value.
You may want to consult with a lawyer to determine your other potential claims for your losses.
