Legal Question in Product Liability in Pennsylvania
Does a preacipe to settle and discontinue being filed, mean that a civil case has been settled? I live in PA. My family has a civil case against an auto maker in the death of my father due to faulty equipment. My father and step mother are the named plaintiffs in the case, there is also an estate opened. If a settlement is reached, would it go directly to the spouse, or into the estate? There are 3 children. We have not been contacted by the attorney yet saying a settlement has been reached.

Who stepped into your father's shoes at the time of his passing i.e. who is the representative of the estate. If the matter was settled with a payment then estate representative should have agreed to it.
A "Settle, Discontinue, and End" means that the case is over. You should talk to the atty representing the plaintiffs to get details.
