Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Pennsylvania
16 years ago I bought a house with a man I am not married to. Both our names are on the deed. In the past 16 years, alot has changed. We are no longer a couple. We just live under the same roof. He lost his job 5 years ago & has not worked since. I financially support the house hold. Mortage, bills, lake dues, (we live in a private, gated community), groceries. ALL OF IT! Bottom line, I want him out. I have spoken to him about the living arrangements. He REFUSES to leave. Is there anything I can legally do to get rid of him? PLEASE HELP!

If he refuses to work out a resolution with you, you will have to file a law suit seeking partition. This usually results in a court-ordered sale: the costs of the law suit, the costs of the Realtor commissions and all other expenses of the sale would diminish what either of you would get. It is in his interest as well as yours to work things out.
This response is not legal advice, since I do not have all of the information that would be required, and I do not have a representation agreement with you.
* If the answers to your question confirm that you have a valid issue or worthwhile claim, your next step should almost always be to establish a dialog with a lawyer who can provide specific advice to you. Contact a lawyer in your county or township.
* Another reason for contacting a lawyer is that it is often impossible to give a good answer in the Internet Q&A format without having more information. The unique circumstances of your situation and things that you may not have thought to mention in your question may completely change the answer. If you want to be sure that you have a complete answer to your question and an understanding of what that answer means, establish a connection with a lawyer who practices in the area of your concern.
