Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Pennsylvania

Automatic renewal for rental agreement

My lease has an automatic renewal clause. I have found that in other states this has to be in a certain size font, and in bold face. Does this apply in PA?

Second, my lease is up on the 25th of August, 2004. It will automatically renew at this time. The lease says I must give 60 days notice to leave without penalty, but since my lease is up at the end of this month, couldn't I leave now and only owe for the rest of August? It seems incorrect that since I didn't give 60 days notice my entire lease would be renewed. Is there anyway to prevent the reinstating of my lease if I have no intention of staying past this month?

Re: Automatic renewal for rental agreement

The lease provision is a standard provision and enforceable. Suggest you speak to the Landlord to see if they will release you. If they refuse you are legally obligated for the one year. Suggest you speak with legal counsel. Gerald Hershenson 215-579-9390
