Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Pennsylvania

How to I get my building back?

I purchased a property about 20 years ago. The property had to be divided. I had a surveyor write the division and it was listed on the deed. I have permits for work done on the building that was on the property. I have been paying taxes on what I thought was the property. It is a 3 unit rental. The property that it was separated from has been sold also. Now it looks as though my property was not separated from the original parcel. I found this when I checked the deeds for the county online. The property doesn't come up online. I am worried that I may have gotten the wrong property. The lot and block do not seem to agree with what I bought. I have been actively managing this property fot almost 20 years. I don't think that the buyer thought he was getting my building but if he has a chance of getting it he may try. What happens if I have paid taxes on the wrong property for 20 years and mine should be several times higher? Where do I start to correct the records?

Re: How to I get my building back?

This is a complicated issue. It is illegal to sell property that has not been subdivided. The facts should be reviewed by legal counsel for proper advice. You might have to go to the Township to obtain a proper subdivision If I can be of any assistence please contact me. My phone number is 215-579-9390
