Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Pennsylvania

building a home

I am under contract to have a house built. We are to close in 45 days, and there is no siding, driveway, carpet or kitchen installed yet. The closing date seems like a pipe dream. I gave the builder a 10K deposit and was informed that it was non refundable if we back out. I asked him and the realtor what happens if the house does not appriase they said I would have to come up with the rest of the money. My question is ''If I do not close on time can I legally ask for my money back and what are my legal recourses to get the money back if doesnt appraise at value?

Re: building a home

That would depend on what the contract says. You did have your lawyer look it over before you signed it didn't you?

They maybe misleading you as to what the contract says. Then again you could have signed a contract that says what they say it does.

If you have any questions feel free to contact me. The initial consultation is free.
