Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Pennsylvania

My name is on a car title that i have nothing to do with the car (my name is first on the title his is 2nd, not sure if that matters?). The other person on the title has the car & i can't get a hold of him, i don't know where he is & he changed his number. I recently got tickets in the mail, he ran red lights & it came in both our names. I just want my name off the title/registration, i don't care what it takes, i don't want to be responsible for whatever he does with the car. Couldn't i just sign off on the title so that it would just have his name on it?? Then i was wondering if i could file some kind of police report to have something to show i want nothing or have nothing to do with the car? PLEASE help!

Yes, but you need the title so that you can sign the title in front of a notary and transfer the title to him and have him apply for a new title with the DMV. No, you cannot file a police report. If you ar half owner of the car, you also are entitled to the car. You do not indicate what the car is worth or if it is still financed. I would discuss with an attorney whether an action can be brought to partition the car if he will not buy out your share of its value or vice-a-versa.
