Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Pennsylvania
Copyright on plans after a house fire
We recently had a house fire that totally destroyed our--name removed--other than the foundation walls. We decided to go with a different builder than our original one to rebuild our--name removed-- We have now been told that we need to pay our original builder a copyright fee even though the--name removed--we are going to build is not a carbon copy of the original. We will not be using the original plans to rebuild and the only thing left is the foundation. Do we have to pay?

Who said that you need to pay? What is the basis of their claim?
Suppose I managed to find out who you were and said you need to pay me for this advice. Would you? I would hope not.
So before you pay anybody anything. Ask me the initial consultation is free.
