Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Pennsylvania

Deposit monies

I, the buyer was to settle on a property on 1/30/04, however 4 days prior to settlement, a pipe burst and causes major damage to all rooms in the single family house. I backed out of the deal and signed a release 2 weeks ago, my agent has made many unsuccessful attempts in getting a response from the sellers agent. We just received word on 2/13/04 from the sellers agent that we will get our deposit monies back under the condition the WE reimburse the seller all monies for the 3 items we had them fix from our home inspection. What are my options and is this even legal? Please help!

Re: Deposit monies

I'm NOT your atty, I'll make a GENERAL comment here, but you need to contact a local atty for legal advice based upon your specific set fo facts.

I'd tell 'em to kiss your a__ . SORRY, but that is rediculous! They repaired their home, not yours. You derrived no benefit, you have no such obligation. Send tham a final demand, then file suit (probably small claims - right?) for the deposit with atty's fees. IF I were a betting man, I'd wager they'd THEN send you your money.

Good luck.
