Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Pennsylvania

easements

my family owns a house with an easement granted by a former neighbor over fifty years ago and secured by a deed.the easement allows us to enter our property from the street.included in the deed is one of three attached garages for which we paid an agreed price to the former owner.the new neighbor owns the other two attached garages.the new neighbor wants to knock down their two garages and wants us to do the same.their main objective is to take back the easement.if they are successfull we will become land locked.can our new neighbors legally take away from us our deeded easement?

Re: easements

Probably not. If the easement was drafted well (you would have to have an attorney examine it) and the easement was not just for the time when the old owner owned the property (that is, a limited time easement) then unless you release the easement you should still have it.

To be sure, you are probably going to have to have an attorney review the easement because a lot law in this area depends on how well written the easement is. If it is written well you are probably protected. If not, well then it might be a whole new ball game.
