Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Pennsylvania

An ex-boyfriend and I had bought a house/property and have parted ways. I have asked him repeatedly to buy me out and he refuses. My name is still on the Deed and I don't reside on the property anymore. My question: is there a legal way to divide up the property?

Mr. Davidson is right. You can file a complaint to force a sale of the property "in lieu of partition." Partition simply means to divide it up - but since you can't very well split a house down the middle, courts will order that it be sold and the sale proceeds divided between the owners.

That, of course, usually leads to a fight about how the proceeds will be divided, with each owner demanding credits/debits of the others -- but it's the only game in town, so you should consult with a local attorney to get this going.

Best of luck to you.
