Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Pennsylvania

Expiration of lease

The lease on our business has expired. We plan to move our business location in 2 months time. Does our landlord have the right to raise our rent? If so by how much? Does this notice have to be in writing? We have not agreed to any increase at this time and have paid what we usually pay every month.

Re: Expiration of lease

It is important that you consult an attorney. The lease must be examined to determine what notice requirements are set forth prior to termination. In some leases if improper notice is given to terminate the lease is automatically renewed for a new term. Other lease say the lease continues from month to month. Assuming proper termination of the lease, the Landlord is entitled to raise the rent assuming he gives proper notice. Your question is difficult to answer without a full review.
