ex- husband not refinancing home

I divorced my husband in 2004. I left him the house. I can't get my name off the loans that he has accumulated. It is effectin my credit horrible because he is so deliquent. How do I get my name off of the loans

You asked about refinancing debts when the ex fails to pay.

You really can't get your name off of debts unless they are satisfied. This is a big reason why many divorcees end up bankruptcy court. Yep, that's right. If you go bankrupt then all those debts get off of your record and are stuck solely with the ex.

You will want to explore this further with an attorney. Bankruptcy stays on your credit record for up to 10 years though almost all effect is gone after three years.
