Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Pennsylvania

I live in warrington, pa. I currently room with 2 people, one dating the other, while married to someone else. None the less, since she is fighting for custody, her "lawyer" said that a roommate would create a unsafe living environment. She has then, texted me a ultimatum to move out within 2 weeks or the end of the month. I do not beleive this would be proper, as she is not subletting (as she beleives) nor is she the landlord, she is also on the lease. Am i in the clear?

If your name is also on the lease as tenant, she does not have the right to oust you.

If only you and she are listed as the tenants, the person she is dating does not have the right to live there, and his doing so may violate the lease.

You should consult with a lawyer to help you determine how you could resolve this situation.

If you decide to move out, you want to be sure that you will not be liable to the landlord in the event that your roommate fails to pay the rent or does anything else in violation of the lease terms. The only way you can be assured of this is for the landlord to agree in writing that you will not be liable.

This response is not legal advice, since I do not have all of the information that would be required, and I do not have a representation agreement with you.

* If the answers to your question confirm that you have a valid issue or worthwhile claim, your next step should almost always be to establish a dialog with a lawyer who can provide specific advice to you. Contact a lawyer in your county or township.

* Another reason for contacting a lawyer is that it is often impossible to give a good answer in the Internet Q&A format without having more information. The unique circumstances of your situation and things that you may not have thought to mention in your question may completely change the answer. If you want to be sure that you have a complete answer to your question and an understanding of what that answer means, establish a connection with a lawyer who practices in the area of your concern.
