Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Pennsylvania

mortgage modification

I was given a subprime mortgage thru Countrywide...& they were sued by Pa Attorney Genera for predatory lending. I have been trying to modify, since May ''2008''. Hope Now has also gotten nowhere. And I was scammed by Federal Modification Law Center for $3000(who is sued by the FTC & Attorney General). Do you know an attorney that can help get my loan modified ?

Re: mortgage modification

You don't need a lawyer and need not have paid any money for counseling

and assistance.

The company to which you paid $3,000 is one of the many scams that have

sprung up because of the foreclosure crisis.

Look for a government authorized Consumer Credit Counseling agency, that provides services with no charge, will evaluate offers of a modification made by your mortgage company, and will assist you with gathering the necessary documents for you to send to your mortgage company.

Banks must agree to participate in the Home Affordable Modification Program.

At the following link you can find a list of servicers who have signed contract with the government to participate. See http://makinghomeaffordable.gov/contact_servicer.html. The list is updated regularly.

This response is not legal advice, since I do not have all of the information that would be required, and I do not have a representation agreement with you.

* If the answers to your question confirm that you have a valid issue or worthwhile claim, your next step should almost always be to establish a dialog with a lawyer who can provide specific advice to you. Contact a lawyer in your county or township.

* Another reason for contacting a lawyer is that it is often impossible to give a good answer in the Internet Q&A format without having more information. The unique circumstances of your situation and things that you may not have thought to mention in your question may completely change the answer. If you want to be sure that you have a complete answer to your question and an understanding of what that answer means, establish a connection with a lawyer who practices in the area of your concern.
