You must seek legal advice. If the home is titled in joint ownership with right of survivorship and your mother died and your grandmother is alive then she owns the house. However if she predeased your mom then your mom would own the house. if the deed was titled so that each owned a half and if one died there was no survivorship language then the heirs of your mom would be entitled to her half share. Get a copy of the deed if possible and contact an attorney.
