Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Pennsylvania

neighbor dispute-invasion of privacy

i live in a townhouse and my neighbors videotape me and my family/friends when we are on our deck. the deck is raised off the ground and attached to the back unit of my house only. we've asked them to stop and they won't. they claim they do it for their own personal protection which makes no sense-we have never threatened or harassed any neighbor in any way. is this legal? can we do anything to stop it? its extremely intrusive and offensive to us.

Re: neighbor dispute-invasion of privacy

Is your townhome in a homeowners' association? if so, there are probably some regulations of what activities may and may not be conducted there. There may also be a homeowners' association committee to resolve issues between owners, such as this situation.

I would suggest that you go on record with your requests to you neighbors, by putting them in writing, and sending them via regular mail and via certified mail, return receipt requested.

If there is no other mechanism, you may want to file a complaint with the police.

You should also consult a local attorney to advise you. When neighbors have disagreements, they may escalate into unpleasant, if not dangerous situations.

Good luck.
