Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Pennsylvania

Does Pa have

We are considering purchasing a home at a sheriff sale. My husband told me that an acquaintance of his informed him that the original owner of a property sold at a sheriff sale has a period of time when they could come back after the sale and retake possession of the property if they can satisfy whatever tax or foreclosure caused the sale in the first place. I was under the impression that once a property is sold and paid for at a PA sheriff sale the original owner can have no claim on the property. Who's correct in this case?

Re: Does Pa have

Yes even post sale the previous owner may sue to upset the sale. Often this is done when the proper procedures weren't filed.

Also, the sheriff sale only satisfies the mortgage on the property. All the other liens remain. So before buying a property at a Sheriff sale you should do a title search.
