Getting payment for renters

What course of action can a landlord take to to retrieve rent from renters when they don't pay. They can be evicted but is the money gone?

You can evict the tenant, and continue to go after the tenant for the money that wasn't paid. However, as a practical matter it may be difficult, because you have to know the former tenant's new location and the former tenant could move from place to place, or hide his/her location to make collection more difficult.
