Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Pennsylvania

Down payment not returned

Hello. I'm trying to figure out what kind of action can be taken against a real estate company if they have not returned my down payment for a house that ''feel through''. That was back around May 15 of this year, and they have yet to receive my $14,000 down payment. I keep getting excuses that they didn't have my address, then they needed to verify my signature. I'm supposed to have it by today, but if I don't, I want to take action. This is preventing me from finding another home to move in to. Your help with this question is greatly appreciated.

Re: Down payment not returned

You should consider filing a complaint with the board of realtors. You should also make sure that the circumstances of the deal falling through does entitle you to your down payment back. Were there two realtors involved on for seller one for buyer if so who held the down payment was it infact placed in an escrow account. You should also consider speaking with an attorney to assess your options, If you would like to discuss this mater with our offic do not hesitate to call to schedule a consultation.
