Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Pennsylvania
property line infringement
A few weeks ago an adjoining neighbor sent me a letter indicating that he intends to begin a project that could adversely affect my property. I responded with a letter saying that I am not willing to accept any such adverse affect. Recently he painted lines on the lawn, presumably to build a fence. The lines seemed to be a little onto my property, but they were close, so I ignored them. A few days later he painted new lines. Now they appear to be at least a few inches into my property. I assume it would be best to stop him from constructing a fence rather than dealing with it after the fact. He doesn't speak to me, so reasoning with him is out of the question. The fence would be a good distance from any of my structures, but I don't really want it on my property. What problems could this cause for me and what should I do? Thank you.

Re: property line infringement
Eventually over a long period of time he could come into possession of the inches that he fences in. Write him a certified letter stating that you believe his markings are on your property and that if he attempts to build or have build a fence there you will sue for an injunction. You may also wish to split the cost for a surveyor to come out and mark the line properly.
