Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Pennsylvania
Property lines
I own my home and 8 years ago I put up a shed. The owner of the house next door claimed this weekend that the shed is a little on his property. He is a landlord and does not live there. I have never seen this man or spoke to him, but he informed his new tenants that I would be receiveing a letter from him to remove the shed. I am under the impression that there is a 7 year law that the property now belongs to me bacause I have taken care for that long. Is this true or can he make me move my shed?

Re: Property lines
There is no seven year law. There is the law of adverse possession where an owner claims real estate openly for twenty one years. I suggest you have a survey done to verify whether the shed is on your property. If it is not on your property you can still use it with the permission of the other landowner. Suggest you consult legal counsel. If I can be of service please let me know. Gerald Hershenson 215-579-9390 or email at [email protected]
