Property Transfer

What is the correct prcedure in buying a small piece of property from a neighbor. Without using a Realestate agent,or agency? Is this possible? also do we need a surveyand title search and who do we conmtact for that procedure? Thank You

You really need a lawyer. A survey most likely will not be needed. However, you must have title insurance; therefor a search is required to be certain that you are getting clear title to the land you want. In addition, you must be certain there are no liens or other encumbrances on the land that will not be cleared prior to or at closing. You will need an agreement of sale for you and the seller to sign, and the accuracy of the deed must be verified.
