Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Pennsylvania

going down quick

I am in a bind - I followed a credit rebuilding scam that told me to use a tax id number for my ss# to rebuild my credit - things have been great for 8 years and now we refinanced our home and it was approved , now two months after settlement they are asking for copy of my ss card- it is a HUD loan - should I just ignore the call and continue to pay my mortgage- should I come clean and tell them I just didn't know it wasn't okay - I don't know what to do -I never knew it was not okay till now when I started researching it- I have good credit now but under a different number - I did what I had to do 8 years ago to save my credit after identity theft - I don't want to lose our home -my husband is primary on the loan - what can I do to fix this mess I have made - I need to save my home and my family - please help me - we have the income to pay the bill - we both do - I am scared crapless right now and feel like dying I don't even know what catagory to list this under - should I just get a fake ss# to match my tax id - how can I fix this before it gets worse-

All of my financial info submitted was legit - just the ss# was incorrect - since we settled 2 months ago - should I just ignore the request and just pay my bill as usual

Re: going down quick

You asked about a problem with a discrepancy on your home loan.

First thing is to calm down and discuss the matter with your husband.

Then find a lawyer. Of course you need to come clean. But dealing with the problem cleanly and honestly will prevent this problem from ballooning. You should have little if any problem keeping the house but there of course will be some repercussion. It may be minimal or it could be larger.

Ignoring the problem is not an option.

Roger
