Is it very complicated to change a deed back to the owners name?

It depends on how it got out of the "owners" name.

If the owner deeded it to someone else, that person now "owns" the property, and is the only one who can deed it.

If a deed was signed by someone other than the record owner, it will require a legal action [Quiet Title] to restore ownership.
