Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Pennsylvania

Real Property

I agreed to pay $1,800.00 toward the repair of polybutylene plumbing in a townhouse I sold in March 2007. The check was paid to a plumber recommended by the buyer's real estate agent. (A home inspection was performed for the buyers and the home inspector determined I had polybutylene plumbing in the townhouse. I did not have problems with the plumbing; however, I agree to the $1,800 for the buyer to upgrade the plumbing. Apparently, the plumber and the new homeowner got in a dispute and the upgrade was never done. The check was never cashed because it was payable to the plumber. The homeowner apparently will not use this plumbing company now because of their dispute. I want to know what my obligation is to this agreement.

Re: Real Property

You asked about an outstanding check.

You still have the obligation to contribute to the plumbing repairs. But you knew that.

You know what to do now.

Roger
