Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Pennsylvania

Relocation & breaking of a lease

I have heard that if your are relocating more than 30 miles from your current job that it is permissable to break a lease without any complications if giving enough notice. Is this a true statement? I will be relocating to a different state and will have a month left on my lease. I do not want to jeopardize my new job nor do I want (or can afford) to lose any money. Any information that you could provide would be appreciated. Thank you.

Re: Relocation & breaking of a lease

Unfortunately under Pennsylvania there is no ability of a tenant to demand a release because of a long distance move. I suggest you meet with your landlord to discuss the situation. He might release you early if he can rent the unit. Gerald Hershenson 215-579-9390
