Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Pennsylvania

remoldeling and improvements

I have a three year lease on a commercial store.i am making it into a coffee shop.because i am renovating it i have a clause giving me three months no rent and if the zoning is not approved then i can void the contract.the lanlord ashored me that the zoning would be no problem and i should continue with my renovations.however there are some objections to my shop by a community group.i have put almost $60,000 into the remodel and now the landlord is selling the building and is advertising my new renovations.i have not paid my contractor yet.is it true that the contractor can put a lien against the building and force the sale of the building to get paid or make the landlord responsible for payment?

The contractor can probably not place a valid lien against the owner under your circumstances. He may be able to place a lien on certain of your assets however.
