Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Pennsylvania

Remove my name off of title of house.

I have been divorced for 9 years and I would like to take my name off the house we bought when we were married. I don't want anything from the house just my name off the title.

thank you

Re: Remove my name off of title of house.

It is a simple process. A new deed needs to be prepared. However, there may be a two percent transfer tax due of one half the value. Both your former husband and you must sign the deed. If you are on the mortgage obligation, the deed transfer would not eliminate your liability to pay the mortgage and could effect your credit. I suggest you seek legal advice to insure that what you want to do is in your best legal interest. Gerald Hershenson Esq. 215-579-9390

If there is a mortgage on the house you will have to refinance, if there is no mortgage, then you can execute a new deed and have your property transferred from you and your wife to your wife only.
