Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Pennsylvania

rent termination

I was told that if I find my self in a situation that would require me to terminate my lease early, I have to pay the remainder of the lease at one shot. Is this true or would I just continue to pay monthly until another renter was found?

Re: rent termination

The lease probably says the rent is $X for the year payable at a monthly rate of $X/12.

So if you want to terminate your lease the landlord will want you to pay the remaining payments possibly all at once.

If you can afford to keep paying the rent monthly even though you don't live there you probably can do so.

Just be sure to give proper notice so the lease doesn't automatically renew on you.

Of course you and your landlord may negotiate any sort of termination deal you two can come up with.
