Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Pennsylvania
I rented an office from a person that turned out to be renting the property from someone else. The person that actually owns the property, hasinformed me that the person that leased me the property wasnt suppose to sublease the property and that in order to rectify the situation, the person that leased me the property is to evict me. I had a meeting with the person that rented me the property and they are trying to say that I sold my business to them in order to avoid legal action form the real landlord. I am thinking of leaving the premises before my property is locked out. I am asking what are my rights, I dont want the person that I have the lease with to try to sue me. But in case I wiould like to be able to go after damages just in case

I would get out. There is something in PA called "constructive eviction". If the tenant who leased you the property had no legal right to do so, the lease is void, and in my opinion he has no right to collect damages from you. I would get out ASAP. If you get sued, you will need a lawyer, but under the circumstances, you really have no other choice. This story that you sold your business to the person that rented you the property sounds like extortion and unless you signed documents selling your business to him, he has no defense.
