Who is responsible for back rent?

We recently purchased a mobile home and the previous owners owed lot rent when they left. Who is responsible for paying that rent. Are we held resonsible or does our responsibility begin when we moved in/took ownership? The park says we are responsible and is applying our payments to back rent.

Hard to say from the facts, but if you assumed the previous owners' lot lease it doesn't seem out of the question. Who represented you and why wasn't the back rent disclosed? You may have recourse from them.
