Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Pennsylvania
Right-of-way acess to property
I recently purchased a building lot. There is a dirt road off of the main township road leading to my lot. I was told by a township official that the dirt road was a continuation of the main township road, but the town never paved it. There is sewar electric and water hook up at my lot. This township official told me that I have the right to access my lot using this road. This road has existed for more than 25 years and there are two houses on it before reaching my lot. What is the law on right of way in Pennsylvania? There is one neighbor that continually blocks the road by parking her car in the middle even though she has a driveway.

Re: Right-of-way acess to property
Assuming you have a legal right of way one of the neighbor has no right to block your access. I suggest you inform the township and get their assistance. Otherwise obtain legal counsel and have the situation fully reviewed. You must be sure that the right of way exists. Ever if it does not legally exist it certainly can be implied. Good luck.
