Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Pennsylvania

sherrif sale

My house was just purchased at sherrif sale on may 3. I didn't recieve any official documentaion from the sale. The new owner put a notice on my door stating that if I didn't contact him within twenty four hours that the house would be rekeyed. What legal rights do I have?

Re: sherrif sale

The new owner can not rekey the locks as he threatened. He has to receive th deed to the property. That takes thirty days. Once he receives the deed he can file an eviction proceeding. The new owner may try some self help by changing the locks. Call the police if he does. I suggest you negotiate a date to move out from the property with the new owner. You might want to get an attorney to protect your interest. Gerald Hershenson Esq. 215-579-9390
