Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Pennsylvania
Tax Sale of Real Property
My home is being sold for back taxes. The sale is Mon., Sept 24. I have always been behind in taxes and at one time made an agreement to pay $200 a month. I could not honor that agreement and begged to have it lowered. I was told by an official, ''That's just too damn bad.'' I was told that I had to pay in full, which I have not been able to do, so it is being sold. They will not tell me anything other than the buyer's name, despite the fact that the bid was approved at a public forum. Will I be legally allowed to re-enter the property after Monday to remove items, or will those items automatically go to the buyer? Would I be trespassing to enter the property? This is extremely distressing for I have many cherished memories there.

Re: Tax Sale of Real Property
I am not sure if you are clear on your dates since it appears the sale took place over a month ago, if that is the case there is not much you can do. If the sale is pending or in the future, you are entitled to take any "personal property". The real estate is being sold not your personal property. The issue is if the property has been sold then the new owner does not have to allow you access, you should be able to remove all personal property before the sale.
