tenant changed lockswithout permission

the lease has expired between me and the tenants 5/31/2002.on problem until lately. 2/16/2003 i contacted tenants to tell them i have to sell the house. the tenants won't let me or the real estate agent in the home unless they are there. which is only 7-8 o'clock at night or sometimes on the weekend-if they're there.i was just recently told by the tenants that the locks have been changed i have no way of entering the house even in an emergency.at this point i would like them to leave so i can sell the house.

Re: tenant changed lockswithout permission

The issue you describe is difficult to assess without a long and detailed review of the facts. I suggest you consult with legal counsel. A tenant can not deprive an owner of reasonable access to his property. The lease can be terminated. However, the entire factual background and written lease must be reviewed. If I can be of any assistence let me know. Gerald Hershenson 215-579-9390
