Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Pennsylvania
Transferring a title
My mother bought a residence through a sheriff's sale about 3 years ago. The company she bought it from informed her that she was to file some sort of paperwork within 30 days in order to transfer the property into her name. She completely forgot, and now she needs to know what exactly she can do in order to rectify the situation. Is it too late since the property is still in someone elses name?

Re: Transferring a title
It is difficult to answer the question without more information. If your mother paid the amount she bid at sheriff sale, then she needs to contact the sheriff's office to see if the deed was filed. A property purchased at sheriff's will result in a deed being filed by sheriff. The sheriff's office may require some documents to be filed before transfering the deed. I can not properly advise you without more facts. I suggest you consult legal counsel. Gerald Hershenson Esq. 215-570-9390
