My ex-boyfriend is threatening to post nude photos of myself on the internet without my permission. Can he do that without getting in trouble?

Re: harassment
You asked about an ex who intends to post private pictures of you.
There are a few issues. Were you above the age of consent when the pictures were taken? If not then he's going on a state vacation just for possessing the images.
Did you allow the images to be taken? If yes then you must define the situation and who was to maintain control of the images.
Was there any legitimate intent in taking the pictures or posting them? If yes, such as you were helping him out as a model to practice his photo skills, then you may have one set of options. If they were photos taken as an intimate act between two parties then you need to act quickly.
You could seek replevin (return of the images), an injunction preventing him from publishing the images, or if the images are published you can seek compensatory (such as for the cost of the psychological counseling you will be going to, and exemplary damages for the intentional infliction of emotional distress.
You need to speak with an attorney immediately to prevent the publication of the images. Again, the age issue is important, if you were under 18 he will go to prison for publishing the photos. If you are young but over 18 then a friend, brother or father may also be enlisted to retrieve the images.
This is a serious matter and you must pursue it aggressively and immediately. Be sure to keep accurate records of your contacts with this person. Further, if the individual has previously or is currently using the threat of publishing pictures in order to gain any advantage, such as demanding sex, then that is extortion (blackmail, sexual assault) and you should contact an attorney and the police immediately (TONIGHT, Right Now). Do not contact the actor again.
