Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in Pennsylvania

internet information

About 10 years ago my company and I were the victim of a frivilous sexual harrasment suit. A PA court docuement containing the courts refusal to dismiss the suit is on the internet and comes up when my name is searched under google. Obviously this is embarassing and a potential hindrance in getting a new job. My employer at this time stood behind me and agreed that this suit was nothing more than a shake down for money. After all this time, is there any way to have this docuement removed from the net? Thanks

Re: internet information

This really isn't a sexual harassment question, it's really an internet law question.

The issue is this...the document is a public document, and is filed in a court. All court documents are public, unless a court seals them.

The likelihood that a court would seal a file is very very small. Even if a court sealed the file, the document (while public) was placed on the internet. There really isn't any way to have a document ordered removed from the internet that is merely a public court document.

Re: internet information

Mr. Pascal is correct. You can attempt to have the court seal the file, but the standard of proof is high and you may need to show actual harm.

As far as something on the Internet, once matter is published on the Internet it can never be recalled. Even if the original site is required to take it down fro some reason, the matter will exist on many servers.

What you can do is either yourself or through a service campaign to drive your negative information way down on the results lists.

Roger
