Re: what is the penelty for leering

You asked what the penalty is for leering at another person.

In most circumstances the most extreme penalty would be consternation.

In some particular circumstances there could potentially be repercussions. These could include such as the loss of a job if done at work or the expulsion from most private and many public places if done to the point of annoyance.

Leering per se is not illegal. That is unless the particular circumstance make it so, such as one who leers into a persons home windows, or a teacher who leers at his young students.

Simply put, leering in and of itself is not a crime. It is the circumstances in which it occurs that make the action offensive.

Hope that helps.

Roger

There is no such crime as "leering." Last time I checked, it was not illegal to look at someone.

I guess in some sense it might depend on whether the "leer" implied a threat, but that wasn't your question.

In the workplace, it involves the possibility of "sexual harassment", which is a civil matter.

I don't think you work in the "juvenile delinquent" field, because if you did, you'd know that looking at someone isn't illegal.
