Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in Pennsylvania
sexual harassment at work
Hold onto your hats, this is about to get a little long...
When I started my new job about two months ago, I was trying to make friends. This one older gentleman was very friendly, but kind of gave me a weird, uneasy feeling. I started to notice he would only talk to me when people weren't around, he would make comments about my boyfriend (whom he didn't even know), ask if I'd ever dated black men, etc.
Eventually, these comments escalated in nature to things that made me feel disgusting. He asked for my phone number, and before I could give him my standard fake, he said he would be calling me immediately to make sure I wrote it down correctly. After that, he called me from the work phone about 10 times over the course of two days.
When I went to my HR department about it, they took a statement, and two days later, they got back to me saying that ''The facts don't add up'' and that if I ''told anymore stories'' a corrective action would be taken against me.
Apparently, the investigation is still ongoing, pending the telephone records, but I was told ''ten times in two days isn't a big deal.''
My question is - so what do I do next? I don't feel I can work there with this man leering at me, and he scares me. Help! :(

Re: sexual harassment at work
Based upon your facts, it would appear that you have a complaint for Sexual Harassment, and possibly racial harassment. If you feel that HR has not adequately addressed the problem, then filing a claim is the way to go. Plus, it is illegal for your employer to retaliate against you for filing this claim. We can file it with the EEOC. If you call our offices or drop me an e-mail, I can send you the questionnaire that I will need to have you fill out, and we can start preparing your complaint with the EEOC.
