student loan default
I am a co-signer for a student loan that is now in default. I live off social security. Can they garnish my SS check?

Re: student loan default
If you receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI) the answer is no. But if you receive disability or retirement, the answer is maybe.
Not knowing what the loan contract says, I cannot speculate on the creditor's rights. You should read the contract re: the creditor's options upon default or have a contract attorney do it for you. Call you local Bar Association for the name of an attorney.
