Legal Question in Traffic Law in Pennsylvania

Bike/Auto Collision

A person on a bike hit the driver side of my car. There was two lanes of through traffic out of town. A bus was stopped in the left lane waiting to make a left turn. I was passing the bus in the right (curb) lane. The biker rode in front of the bus and into me as I was passing. The biker said she is physically OK, but wheel of bike is broken and she asked if I could pay a portion to have it fixed. I agreed since I felt bad it happenend. There is minor damage to my car - broken mirror. If I send her money for the repair of the wheel, I am accepting blame for the accidend? Also, if I do, should I be concerned that if the biker has injuries later on that she can come to me for payment of medical bills?

Due to traffic, there were witnesses, but neither of us got names or numbers. There is no police report and I have not contacted my car insurance company.

Re: Bike/Auto Collision

You aren't automatically accepting responsibility, but it would provide an argument that you did. You should get a release signed by the biker and you, saying that by making the payment you are not admitting fault, and providing that the biker release you from all further liability.
