Legal Question in Traffic Law in Pennsylvania
My GF, a friend and I were heavily drinking about two months ago. MY gf and i got into a short agrument about god knows what and I guees I put my hand around her throat then stopped. Next thing you know 6 police cars showed up at her house because someone reoprted hearing gun shots...hello never happened.
Anyway I think they were either pissed or on a power trip but they told my GF she has to make a complaint against me. We all were very dunk and too date I have not had a drink.
I received a citation for harassment from the police officer. I don't remember what happened and have not drank since. What si going to happen. I live in PA.

You will either pay the fine, or take it to trial and fight it in your local Magisterial District Court. The maximum fine is $300.00, plus court costs (maybe another $100.00 or so). On the books, you could also be jailed for up to 90 days, but jail time is uncommon -- especially if you got a citation by mail versus a personal visit by the cops holding handcuffs.
If you don't remember what happened, however, I'd say you won't make the greatest witness for your defense. If the citation concerns a complaint made by your girlfriend against you, and she will not be there to testify against you, my guess is that the court will dismiss the citation. I suggest you show up and see what happens. You can always plead guilty and pay the fine; then again, the court may dismiss it. Best of luck to you.
