Legal Question in Traffic Law in Pennsylvania
Hit and Run Citations
After returning home the other night, the police showed up and asked if I had been in an accident, I said no. They then proceeded to tell me they had witness's that I had hit another car. After inspecting my car w/ the officer there was damage to my right side, a minor paint smudge, barely noticeable. I gave the officer my information and he has since passed it on the other party involved. I had no idea my car was involved, but it is damaged. The officer told me I would be receiving a citation from him in the mail, it has been 9 days so far. My question is this: Does the citation go to the DMV first, then me, or I get the citation and the DMV sends me a notice of license suspension? Any info would be great.

Re: Hit and Run Citations
The citation goes to you first. You have to be convicted of something for it to go to DMV. A citation is not a conviction, it is a charge. You have the opportunity to defend yourself before a District Justice and in court.
How could you hit another car and not know it?
