question about licenses and residency

I posted a quesion before relating to this... I am 16 living in NJ. My parents are divorced and I live with my mother. My father lives in Pennsylvania. My question is if I live in NJ but establish a residency in Pennsylvania with my father, would I be able to obtain my drivers license early but still be able to drive in NJ for school and work. Also what would the liability be if I crash. My mother works long hours and I have two jobs, school, and go to the gym every day so it is very difficult for me to get around without a car. Would I legally be able to acomplish this task?

You can get a license in PA at your Dad's address. You can drive any registered car with the owner's permission. As long as you are driving a registered and insured car with the owner's permission, you will be covered under that insurance. The safest option that would protect your parents from liability if you should get into a serious accident, would be to have a car registered in your name from PA, insured in your name, advising the insurance company that it is principally garaged in NJ. You could contact a NJ insurance company and see if they would let you be insured directly on a NJ policy. They probably would. You would be properly licensed as a driver. Good luck.
