Legal Question in Traffic Law in Pennsylvania

I just received a non-traffic citation in the mail for failure to remove snowfall from the sidewalk of my premises within a 24 hour period. The snowfall occurred while I was on vacation (out of state), and I promptly removed the snowfall upon my return. Can I successfully fight the citation based on my situation ?

Doubtful, but take a look at the local ordinance. Chances are that there's no exception for being away from the property: you still own it even if you're not physically there, and the focus of the ordinance is a safety one for passersby. It's certainly worth a look, though.

You probably will just have to chalk this one up as a cost of being a homeowner, and pay it. Perhaps, for the future, you might make an mutual arrangement with a neighbor when either of you are out of town during a snowfall? Best of luck to you.
