A violation of 3111(a) of the motor vehicle does not result in any points assessed against you. Assuming you haven't had any recent motor vehicle violoations, the citation should have essentially no effect on your insurance premiums. While each insurance company is different, premiums are usually only raised for serious violations involving the assessment of points, accidents that are clearly your fault and involve injuries to others. A violation of 3111(a) should result in a fine and nothing else.
