Legal Question in Traffic Law in Pennsylvania

Speeding

What should I do:

I was driving on route 80 and I didn't realize the speed limit was reduced to 55 from 65 for that section of the highway. I was in the middle of a few cars in the left lane passing some slower cars in the right lane. I was pulled over for going 82 on radar in a 55 mph zone. I have never recieved a speeding ticket before and I think if found guilty of over 25 mph of the speed limit it is automatic loss of your license. I can't lose my license because, I need it to work in order to have money to pay for college. So, what should I do?

Thanks

Re: Speeding

Over 31 is automatic suspension, over 25 is departmental hearing that may or may not result in a suspension.

What you should do is to plead not guilty and request a hearing...then hire an attorney to go with you to the hearing. The attorney may be able to negotiate a deal whereby the points would be reduced or eliminated, although you would still have to pay a fine.

Re: Speeding

You should get a lawyer and fight the ticket. 25 over results in a departmental hearing where your license can be suspended. With a lawyer if there is no technical legal defnese he may be able to negotiate a plea to a reduced citation. I offer free consultations.
