Legal Question in Traffic Law in Pennsylvania

Speeding ticket using vascar

I am a college student and I was moving my stuff to my new house which is out of state (Allegeny, PA) I was on my way home and where I live is on a steep hill. I was riding my breaks and I was pulled over and the cop told me I was clocked going 42 in a 25 and ticketed me. I then asked him to see the gun he used to clock me and he told me he did not use a gun he used vascar and when I asked what it was he told me that it was a mathmatical equation and then could not produce the evidence that I was going that speed. After leaving my development the first speed limit sign is at the bottom of the hill which I was going down and this was only my second time going there and neither time did I drive. Therefore since it is a main road I assumed the speed limit was more than 25. Is there anyway I could fight this and avoid points.

Re: Speeding ticket using vascar

YOu can always fight something and try to avoid points.

PLead not guilty at first court appearance. But, try to get there early and talk to the prosecutor. He may talk to you or he may not. Tell him the situation and ask for the proof by which your speed was calculated.

Be humble and don't act like you know what your doing. TEll the prosecutor that you can not afford the points. He may lower it to a non-moving and you'll pay a fine & costs.
